僕のローカルパブ

アイルランド人にとって、家の近くのローカルパブは２つ目の家です。

For us Irish, the local pub is our home away from home.

僕の家の近くのパブは昼の１１時から朝１時まで開いているよ。
The pub down the road from my house is open from 11am until 1am.

お客さんが居ないときもない！（笑）
There isn't a time when there are no customers there.

いろんな人がいるし誰が入ってもOK！
There are all sorts there and anyone can go there too!

１８歳から９０代の人まで集まる所です。

You can find people from the age of 18 to people in their 90's!!

みんなが凄くフレンドリーで誰でも話せる雰囲気があるよ。
It is really friendly and there is an atmosphere like you can talk to anyone.

アイルランドの一番有名なビールはギネスと言います！

In Ireland the most famous beer has got to be Guinness!

みんな知っているよね？
You all know it right?

１７５９年に作られた会社で、アーサー・ギネス（その時に３４歳）は自信を持って工場を建てられる場所を
９０００年間リースした。
The factory was opened in 1759 by Arthur Guinness (at the tender age of 34). And he had the confidence to lease the land the factiry was built on for 9000 years.LOL

商才持ちだな～
Smart business eh!!?

ギネスは一番有名だけど、僕の一番好きなビールは「カフリーズ」CAFFREY'S IRISH ALE！

Guinness is the most famous but the beer I like the best has got to be Caffrey's IRISH ALE!

僕はローカルパブで毎週末飲んでいたよ。美味いよ
I used to drink it down at my local every weekend!! It's real good!

アイルランドかイギリスに行ったら是非飲んでみてね！

If you ever make it to Ireland or England, get a pint of it in you!

アイルランドの匂い

最近寒くなっているね。
It's been getting cold recently...hasn't it?

僕は冬が苦手です。
I'm not a lover of Winter!

そういえば日本の家では暖炉を見た事がないな！

In saying that..Japanese houses don't have fireplaces!

アイルランドでは実家にもあるし、ほとんどみんなの家にあるよ。
I have one in my hometown and I think that most people do!

冬になるとアイルランドでは暖炉でたき火を作る！
In Winter we build a fire in the fireplace!

昔はアイルランドでは石炭が少なかったからみんなが（ピート）泥炭を使ったんだ！

Long ago in Ireland we didn't have much coal so we used peat to burn instead!

石炭より全然いい匂いだし僕は好き！！

It smells 10 times better than coal too!

凄くいい匂いするよ
It smells great

アイルランドの冬は泥炭の匂いだね！（笑）
Peat is the smell of Ireland in Winter! LOL

プディング

みんなはアイッリシュブレックファーストって聞いた事ある？

Have you all heard about Irish Breakfasts?

ベーコン，ソーセージ，たまご，グリルトマト，マッシュルーム＆プディング！！！
Bacon, Sausages, Eggs, Grilled tomato, Mushrooms and PUDDING!

プディングって何かわかる？
Do you know what PUDDING is??

デザートじゃないよ！！（笑）
And it isn't a dessert! LOL

実はプディングは１２６年前のレシピです！！
It is in fact a 126 year old recipe!!

材料は「雄牛の血・オートミール・玉ねぎ・ビールファット・ハーブ＆スパイス」

Its ingredients are Ox Blood, Pinhead oatmeal, Onions, Beer fat, Herbs and Spices.

僕が一番好きなプディングは「クロナキルティ」って言います。

My favourite has got to be "Clonakilty"!

本当に美味しい♪
It is so good!

でもその会社のレシピは入れているハーブとかスパイスを絶対言わないんだよ。。。。
But that company will not breath a word of what herbs and spices are in it!!!

秘密らしいよ
It is a secret!

あぁ，食べたいな～！！！（笑）
Damn I wanna eat some!!! LOL

でもアイルランドとイギリス以外売っていない！

But it isn't available outside if the U.K. and Ireland!

日本で売ればいいのに。。。（涙）
If only they sold it here....(Tears)

迷信的なお母さん

アイルランドは伝説や迷信など多い国だと思います。

Ireland is a country with a lot of trsditions and superstitions.

僕の友達のお母さんは特に迷信的な人です（笑）
My mate's mother is particularly superstitious! LOL

面白いよ！！
It's funny!!

例えば、
『いすの上とかテーブルの上に靴をおいてはダメ』運が悪いんだって！！

For example "She says that you can't leave shoes on a chair or table, even new ones!" It is bad luck!!

『日曜日に爪を切ってはいけない』悪い事が起こる！！
If you cut your nails on Sunday, something bad may happen!!

『ライラックを家の中に持ってはいけない』
You aren't allowed to bring Lilac into your house!

でも全部ダメな迷信じゃないんですよ（笑）
But they are not all bad! LOL

彼のお母さんが日本に来るときにウサギの足を持って来た！！

When his mother came to Japan, she brought a rabbit's foot!!!

幸運をもたらすといわれてるんだって！！
She says that it brings you good luck!!

空港のセキュリティーはどう思ったんだろう？（笑）
I wonder what airport security thought of that? LOL

荒馬を飼いならすために、水曜日の朝に馬の左耳に「クリード」って言う祈りを耳打ちして、金曜日の朝には右耳に耳打ちする。本当かな！？（笑）

It gets better! If you want to train young a wild horse, you whisper the Creed into its left ear on Wednesday morning, and into its right ear on Friday morning!! Mmmmm! Wonder if it works!? LOL

アイルランドの言い伝え

昔アイルランドでは結婚を申し込む時に男性が自分を表すために友人や家族を結婚する人の家まで送りました。
In the past when proposing, the prospective groom sent his friends or members of his family to represent his interests to the prospective bride and her family.

向かう途中で盲人か修道士か妊娠している女性に会う事があったら結婚は運命ずけられている前兆でもし雌ヤギや鳩　狼を見たら凄い良い前兆になると言われてました。

If they saw a blind man, a monk or a pregnant woman during their journey it was thought that the marriage would be doomed because these were very bad omens!!
But if they saw nanny goats, pigeons or even wolves, this was a fantastic omen!

他にも５月１日に男性は好きな女性の家の前にサンザシの枝を置きました。

On top of that, the man proposed on the 1st MAY by leaving a hawthorn branch on the doorstep of the girl.

OKな場合はそのままサンザシの枝を置いておきます。
If she accepted, she left the hawthorn branch there for all to see.

NOの場合はカリフラワーを置いた（笑)

If she declined his proposal, she replaced the hawthorn with a cauliflower!! LOL

昔から伝わっている話は面白いね！！
Stories from long ago are pretty interesting...eh!?

日本食

フランスの日本料理屋が問題になってるみたいです。

France's Japanese food is becoming a problem by the looks of things!

日本料理じゃないのに
日本料理屋の看板を出すお店が多いみたいです。

Despite not being Japanese food the advertisements shops are putting are saying it is!

ヘルシーだし美味しいし日本料理は今海外で人気があります。

Healthy and delicious Japanese food is now gaining popularity abroad!

僕も日本の料理は大好き！！
I love it too!!

アイルランドにもラーメン屋や日本料理屋はありますよ。

There is a ramen shop and Japanese restaurants in Ireland too!

でも日本で食べるのとは全然違うかな。。。。
But it is so different than eating it in Japan!

もっと本当の日本料理を外国人には知ってもらいたいね！！
I want people from abroad to know more about Japanese food!!

24時間営業

ニュース見たらドイツのベルリンで月曜日から土曜日までお店が２４時間営業できる事になったみたい。

When I looked at the news, I saw that in Berlin that from Monday to Saturday the shops are open 24 hours!

今までは平日２０時までの営業の法律だったんだって。
Until now the normal opening hours were until 8p.m.

日本と違って海外は治安悪いから２４時間営業のお店は少ないですよね。

Unlike Japan, the security is not good so there aren't many 24 hour shops!

もちろんアイルランドも。
Of course in Ireland too

日本は安全だなって本当に思います。
I really think that Japan is a safe place!!

サービスもすごいしね。
And the service is amazing too!

そのうちコンビニでロボットが売るかもね（笑）

I suppose that they will probably start selling robots at Convenience Stores soon..eh!? LOL

アイルランドの結婚式

昔のアイルランドの結婚式は結婚する二人が一緒に家から教会まで歩かないといけなかった。

Long ago in Ireland when people were getting married, they had to walk together from their homes to the church.

歩く道にその町の人達が祝福する為に米を投げていたんだ。

While they were walking people would gather and throw rice at them to give their blessing.

鍋やフライパンも同じくたたいて祝福するやり方でした。

But not only rice...people also threw pots and pans too!!

とっても騒がしい結婚式だよね（笑）
A pretty rowdy wedding eh!? LOL

日本でも県や市でいろいろ結婚のやり方は違うところもあると思います。
Even in Japan, I'd say that there are a lot of different wedding ceremonies from city to city and prefecture to prefecture too!

みんなの住んでるところではどうかな？

皆はハネムーンって知ってる？
Do you know about honeymoons?

どんなイメージを持っているだろう？

I wonder what kind of image you have of honeymoons?

アイルランドからはじまった言葉みたい。
It is a word that originated in Ireland you know!

アイルランドは日本と同じように結婚を凄い大切にしてきた国です。
Ireland is a country that also cherishes its weddings...like Japan!

昔の人たちは新婚夫婦の幸せを願って

蜂蜜酒を飲むという風習がありました。

It is said in Irish legend that people long ago actually drank honey for the future happiness of the newlywed couple!!

これがハネムーンの由来みたいです。
That seems to be the origin of Honeymoon!

結婚するならアイルランド式がオススメ(笑）

If you are getting married, why not try an Irish wedding! LOL

アメリカで収穫を感謝するお祭りです。
It is a real American harvest festival.

感謝祭なんだ。

外国人はきっと知ってると思います。
Most foreigners know about it anyway!

アイルランドではやらないからとっても楽しみです♪
We don't celebrate it in Ireland though!

最近急に寒くなってきたね。
It has become cold all of a sudden hasn't it!?

これからはもう冬。
This is the start of winter!!

冬になると日本ではお正月。
Winter means New Year's here in Japan.

みんな楽しみ？
Is it fun for all of you?

お正月はお酒飲めるもんね（笑）
Sure you can drink liquor!! LOL

冬はやっぱり日本酒だよね。

Winter equals Japanese Sake, right!?

日本酒は外国人にも人気あるよ。

It's popular among foreigners too!

おいしいし飲みやすい。
It's good and goes down easily too!

でも酔うよね。。。。
But it does get you drunk....

アイルランドではアイリッシュウイスキーが有名です。

In Ireland it has got to be Irish Whiskey.

今年のお正月はみんなアイリッシュウイスキーを飲んでね！！
This New Year's, everyone try a drop of Irish Whiskey...OK!!!
